Radio News September 2011

Welcome to this months newsletter.

Once again a very quite month only 48 calls logged. The lull before the storm ?

My sincere thanks to both Bronwyn who carried on later on her afternoon shift and opened early the next morning due to increased activity on the lake and to Ray who because of a glich in the roster did an 8hour shift one Sunday.

Both Turangi and Taupo Coastguards held their AGMs during the month, thanks to the operators who attended these.

Many thanks to those of you who phoned and confirmed your support to continue our watches, dispite many boaties on the lake not lodging TRs. As all said, safety on the lake is paramount and we are the first port of call when they run into difficulties.

Our congratulations go to Alan Turia who won the volunteer of the year award at the Trust Power Community awards and Don Scott for being named Coastguard Eastern Region volunteer of the year.

N.B.  Would all operators please forward their stats by either email or phone following their last shift each month.

Vince Charlesworth.

Roster Manager.
