Radio News October 2011

Welcome to this months newsletter.

What started off as a quiet month took off on Labour Weekend with all operators on duty having much busier shifts than the last few months. Most of our regular boaties were back on the lake, many of them staying over at their usual haunts around the lake. This was reflected in this months stats with operators hours up to 103 and calls logged up to 108.

You would have all received the photo I forwarded to you earlier in the month of CRV Turangi on site next to the RENA. She is continuing to do a great job for her new owners.

Well done to Allan and crew in Turangi for receiving a cash gift from Z Turangi following public voting for their favourite community group or organisation.

Our thoughts go out Ian and Bronwyn and we wish Ian a speedy recovery. Thank you Bronwyn for continuing shifts just the same during this worrying time.

Up coming events:

  • 06 November Operators Trip to the HUB at Whakatane.
  • 19 November   Marine SAREX at Kinloch.

Re the SAREX we will broadcasting our watches from the Coastguard caravan being brought down from Auckland for the day and you are all welcome to come out and enjoy the day.

N.B.  Would all operators please forward their stats by either email or phone following their last shift each month.
