AUGUST 2011

Welcome to this months newsletter.

There were only 33 calls logged this month for the same amount of voluntary hours on the airways.

There were no major incidents on the lake this month.

As Phillip discussed with us on the “Operators Outing” he is now advertising for Honorary Enforcement Officers to help out on the lake over the summer period. Anyone who is interested or knows of anyone who might like to assist, visit www.dia.govt.nz and search “HEO”.

Another good month for Coastguard getting there name out into the public arena:18 August. Coastguard Taupo made pg3 with the announcement of them receiving almost $17,000.00 from the Coastguards Summer Lottery.26 August. Heath made front page issuing the first Jet Ski registration in the Taupo area.

On a sad note one of our operators fathers passed away earlier in the month, and we extend our condolences to “Big Steve” and his family at this sad time.

Several operators have been “KO’d” with the flu that has been doing the rounds, but from what I’m hearing most have battled through and are now out the other side and ready to hit the airwaves again.

You would have all received Heaths email regarding “Blue Mists” departure from the lake. Latest news is she’s heading north for her new paint job and all going well be back home in about 3weeks.

Many thanks to the Capt of the vessel Illusion, who last Sunday spent a considerable amount of time on the lake searching for an UNAMED vessel which had run out of petrol and then stayed with them until Coastguard Rescue Taupo arrived and refuelled them.
